Tiverton High Schoolās surprising mock trial playoff run came to an end on Thursday in a closely contested trial against perennial state power East Greenwich High School. Held in beautiful Courtroom 8 at The Rhode Island Superior Court before the Honorable Joseph McBurney, the trial was noted by the judge to be the ābest heās seen this yearā and āthe best sheās ever seenā by one of the longtime scorers.
THS represented the Defendant, with team captain Brooke Sowa and attorneys Nanami Cater and Celina Medeiros. The witnesses were Silas Aguiar, Shawn Anderson, and Beatrice Pimentel. Adelaide Pimentel served as the rules expert.
With five first-year participants out of the seven-member team, the coaches are incredibly proud of this teamās accomplishments.

Tiverton Students Honored as Voice of Democracy and Patriotās Pen winners
The Tiverton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5392 congratulates Tiverton High School and Tiverton Middle School students for their winning essays in the Voice of Democracy and Patriotās Pen contests. This yearās theme was āHow Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?ā Participants were encouraged to express their views, focusing on their own patriotic experiences. Winning entries from the local post level advanced to district and state competitions. At the high school level, Sara Poland placed first, Emma Martin placed second, and Nina Darran placed third. Sara Poland also advanced to place second in District 2. At the middle school level, Addison Riendeau placed first, Ava Silvia placed second, and Allison Wilkie placed third. Addison Riendeauās essay advanced to place first at the District 2 level and moved on to the state competition, where she placed second throughout the state in the Patriotās Pen Essay Contest. All winners received a monetary award and a citation from the VFW for their achievements.

The Tiverton High School Mock Trial Team concluded its regular season today with a resounding must-win victory over the Lincoln School, making the Rhode Island state playoffs for the seventh consecutive year as a result. THS represented the State of Rhode Island, prosecuting a murder charge against the defendant. The defendant was represented by the Lincoln School.
The Honorable David Bazaar presided over the trial at the Garrahy Judicial Complex in Providence, Rhode Island.
The dynamic trial lawyers were team captain Brooke Sowa, along with Nanami Cater and Celina Medeiros. The talented witnesses were Silas Aguiar, Shawn Anderson, and Beatrice Pimental. The strong performance of each participant was highlighted by the scoring judges.
The team now looks forward to the exciting challenge of the state playoff tournament.
