My America 2026 Project

Many of our TMS students recently participated in the My America 2026 project, a massive national youth art and civics initiative designed to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary by building a giant flag mosaic. Working alongside over 1,500 schools and classrooms across all 50 states and 5 territories, students contributed to a nationwide collection that already features more than 98,000 fabric tiles. We are thrilled to announce that two Rhode Island entries from Mrs. Costa's 6th grade classes, created by Aubrey Rachupka and Sasha Joy, have been officially selected to be included in the national campaign! The completed flag will be displayed in Boston, MA, later this year.

Tiverton Middle School 6th graders participated in the Tiverton Celebrates Parade this past weekend. Dressed in spectacular Revolutionary-era attire, students proudly marched behind their ‘1776–2026’ banner to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. Their enthusiasm was on full display as they walked the parade route down Main Rd and distributed American flags to the spectators, including several Veterans in the crowd. Thanks to all who participated!

Congratulations to our Tiverton Middle School Mock Trial Team on yet another dominant win in the Rhode Island State Tournament. TMS represented the defendant in a murder trial, zealously advocating for her acquittal in a case being prosecuted by The Wheeler School. The trial was held at the Garrahy Judicial Complex in Providence and was presided over by The Honorable Keith Cardoza. TMS successfully defended its client thanks to the sharp litigation of its lawyers, Adrianna Peralta, Kaitlyn Swinehart, and Molly Oser, and the stellar witness performances of Charlotte Gilfillen, Avery Correia, and Sasha Joy. Cruz Renchan served as the team’s key rules expert. With this impressive victory against another traditional power program, TMS has concluded its season undefeated. The team eagerly awaits its final ranking in the coming days.

Congratulations to the Tiverton Middle School Mock Trial team, which opened the state tournament with an impressive, riveting victory over one of Rhode Island’s annual power programs, De La Salle Middle School. Tiverton was responsible for prosecuting a murder charge before a jury, with De La Salle representing the defendant. The trial took place at the Garrahy Judicial Complex in Providence and was presided over by The Honorable David Bazaar. TMS convicted the defendant due to the impressive efforts of its lawyers, Wesley Cole, Meadow Monteiro, and Andrew Pepler, as well as compelling witness performances by Maddy Lee, Julia Melo, and Malcolm Cellemme. Cruz Renchan served effectively as the team’s rules expert. Judge Bazaar commented post-trial that it was one of the best trials he’s seen this year at the middle or high school level. Special thanks to Attorney Coach Jeffrey D. Sowa, who has volunteered as a professional mentor for the past 10 seasons, sharing his expertise and passion for the law with our students.
